I won Big Brother after romp on TV but fame was tough, now Ive got normal job

Big Brother can skyrocket some of its contestants to fame and while it works out for some people, others aren't so lucky.

2005 winner Anthony Hutton was one who had great success in the show, but he soon decided to shy away from the spotlight. He became unforgettable after "romping" in the hot tub with Makosi Musambasi.

After the raunchy – and yet very memorable moment – both Anthony and Makosi became unforgettable. Makosi even told her fellow housemates she thought she could be pregnant after the steamy moment.

But now, as Big Brother returns, 41-year-old Anthony has left a life of fame and has a very normal job. Speaking to The Sun, he said he now works as a barber and lives with his wife and two-year-old son.

Anthony said the pair didn't have sex in the hot tub, adding he didn't know that she'd said she was pregnant until he spoke to Davina McCall upon his exit. He told the publication that the Big Brother experience was a "very extreme taste of fame".

He added: "It felt like this wasn't really happening and it wasn't real. It was crazy." Anthony said it was a "real, massive high."

However the work soon dropped off and he had no source of income – social media hadn't taken off so influencers were non-existent, which is something that most reality stars tap into after the show.

Anthony said his ego got he better of him for a while and he wouldn't go back to work and was going out all the time. He added: "I got to a really dark place in my life, a horrendous dark place."

Eventually the ex Big Brother star got into hairdressing once again and opened his own business in 2015. His life has completely transformed in the years since he won the beloved show.

Big Brother winners have had various different results since their stint on the show, but some are still very much in the spotlight. Kate Lawler and Josie Gibson are both winners who became household names – and regularly appear on This Morning.

The series is back on TV after ITV took over, allowing a new wave of housemates to take part in the series for the first time since 2018.
