Im A Celebs Ant and Dec warned as highly venomous snake spotted nearby

Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly have been warned to keep their eyes peeled for deadly snakes.

The hosts of ITV's I'm A Celebrity were told to look out after a venomous snake was spotted near their apartment. The "large brown snake", believed to be an Eastern brown snake, was seen at Kingscliff beach in New South Wales, Australia.

A show insider told The Mirror: "Ant and Dec will have to keep their eyes peeled when on the beach and in the surrounding area. The snake has been spotted exactly where they hang out between shows and brown snakes are not to be messed with."

"Snakes are part of Aussie life but it is still scary to think one of these was slithering around so close by."

Eastern brown snakes are known for their aggression and bad temper. They cause more deaths in Australia than any other group of snakes each year. According to Australia Geographic, their venom is the second most toxic of any snake in the world.

The eastern brown snake, when disturbed, lifts its body into an 'S' shape, mouth wide open and ready to strike. Its venom can cause progressive paralysis and prevent blood from clotting, which may require multiple doses of anti-venom to counteract. Victims could collapse within minutes.

Ant and Dec are no strangers to snakes, usually encountered during bush tucker trials where the snakes used aren't harmful to humans.

In 2017, a brown snake was found in the I'm A Celebrity camp. Medic Bob McCarron revealed: "We keep it quiet from the celebrities in camp but last week I removed a venomous brown tree snake actually climbing along the drawbridge where Ant and Dec walk every day."

Snakes are soon going to be a regular part of Ant and Dec's day as I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! is days away from returning to air. Ant has recently stated the new cast is "incredible" as he prepares to return to his hosting gig.

He said at the airport: "I can't wait for the show to begin, it's an incredible cast. It'll be nice to be reunited with Dec and it'll be nice to see him."
