Johannes Radebe on dancing with Roman Kemp – ‘Strictly, do something about this!’

Johannes Radebe has revealed that he's heard Roman Kemp's calls for them to partner up on Strictly Come Dancing – and he's incredibly keen as well!

The 30-year-old radio DJ told OK! in July that he would only take part in Strictly if he could dance in a same-sex partnership with Johannes, 36, to avoid rumours about the so-called ‘Strictly curse’.

"The only way I’d do Strictly is if I was teamed up with Johannes [Radebe]," he said. "I think sometimes the show takes away from the skill of the dancers and it becomes like a soap opera of who’s dating who."

And now Johannes has said that he would love to partner up with Roman, revealing him to be his dream celebrity partner.

"He said in the press that if he were to do Strictly, he would dance with me and when I heard that, I was like, “Strictly, do something about this!” Johannes tells OK! in an exclusive interview.

"I think he’s a lovely guy. I’ve never seen him dance but I know I would laugh and that’s one of the most important things. [I'd want to dance with either] him or Andrew Garfield."

Roman wouldn't be Johannes' first same-sex partnership, with the South African star pairing up with Bake Off contestant John Whaite for the show's 19th series.

The following year, Johannes danced with comedian and Ted Lasso star Ellie Taylor, with the couple coming in seventh place.

As for the other professionals, Neil Jones said that Queen Camilla would be his top choice for a celebrity dance partner. "She loves dancing, I think it will happen one year!" he said.

Ahead of the new series of Strictly, Johannes joined his fellow professional dancers Kai Widdrington, Carlos Gu, Neil Jones, and Vito Coppola as they spoke about the celebrity line-up.

This year, 15 celebrities will be taking to the dance floor, including Family Fortunes host Les Dennis, Casualty's Nigel Harman, former tennis professional and broadcaster Annabel Croft, EastEnders star Bobby Brazier, former Coronation Street star Ellie Leach and Love Island star Zara McDermott.

They'll be joined by actor Adam Thomas, TV presenter Angela Scanlon and Channel 4 newsreader Krishnan Guru-Murthy among others.

Strictly Come Dancing starts on Saturday 23rd September on BBC One.
