Law and Order SVU alum Kelli Giddish announces ‘incredible’ personal milestone

Kelli Giddish took to social media with good news as she announced a major addition to her family.

The actress is best known for her role as Detective Amanda Rollins on NBC’s hit procedural drama Law and Order SVU.

After joining the long-running series in season 13, the actress made her exit at the end of 2022, marking And a Trauma in a Pear Tree as her final episode.

Her character left with a major cliffhanger including her pregnancy to Dominick “Sonny” Carisi (played by Peter Scanavino), which happened to mirror her real life.

While fans were disappointed to learn their future would not be depicted, Giddish kept her followers up to date with her personal life and revealed the birth of her son.

The 43-year-old took to Instagram with an adorable selfie of her, her husband Beau Richards and their newborn son Oldie, lying down together.

With Oldie in between his parents, the baby is looking at his father while Giddish admires her son.

Alongside the photo, the actress wrote: “My husband and I welcomed Oldie Richards on June 20th and we are so in love and so very grateful.

“Oldie- you’ve brought immeasurable JOY to me and your daddy and your two brothers (and your grandparents and aunts and uncles!).

“You wake up smiling and the light you bring to each moment is truly incredible,” she concluded.

The star was inundated with comments of praise and adoration from her fans who complimented the sweet photo.

Giddish was also commended by her Hollywood pals including icon Brooke Shields who wrote: “I love this baby!!! I need to kiss him.”

Actress Ali Wentworth added: “Congratulations Kelli! What a sweet baby!!!! When can I hold him?”

Her former co-star Betty Buckley commented: “What a doll! Many congratulations, y’all!” As Marvel star Fala Chen shared: “Congratulations.”

Oldie is Giddish’s first child with Beau, whom she married in 2021, she’s also mum to sons Ludo, seven, and Charlie, four, with ex-husband Lawrence Faulborn.

While Variety reported it Giddish’s exit was down to “salary negotiations” with NBC, the actress previously hinted at her character’s return.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, she teased: She’s still in New York.

“I loved working with everybody that was ever involved with SVU and I know they feel the same about me, so if it works in a storyline or whatever, I don’t think the audience would ever hate to see that.”
