Nineties boyband making surprise comeback 26 years after bitter split – but without one member | The Sun

LET Loose are back with the band reforming to record a new single.

It comes 29 years after their huge number one hit Crazy for You.

Lee Murray, 52, Richie Wermerling, 54, and Rob Jeffrey formed the group in 1993.

They went on to release two albums – Let Loose and Rollercoaster – before splitting in 1996.

Lee and Richie reunited in 2008 to write another track and then also took part in the Another Time, Another Place arena tour that included popular 1990s and 2000s acts.

Richie was lead vocals, Jeffrey was the band's guitarist and backing singer, while Lee was on drums.

Now fellow nineties singer and heartthrob Matthew James Pateman from Bad Boys Inc is set to replace Richie as lead vocalist.

Thirty years on since he shot to fame, Lee told Metro: "We’re so excited to be coming back with Let Loose.

"It’s something our fans have been asking us to do for years, and we’re so happy that everything’s fallen into place with Matthew now as our lead singer, as he’s so brilliant."

Matthew added: "I’ve always had a respect for Let Loose and their music. In the industry, they were always 'dumped' into the 'boy band' category – but they’re more than that.
