Strictly 2023s first dance-off sees TV legend unanimously voted out

Les Dennis says he’s having the ‘best time’ despite age

Les Dennis has become the first contestant to leave Strictly Come Dancing 2023.

The television legend found himself in the dance-off against Nikita Kanda tonight.

However, judges Motsi Mabuse, Craig Revel Horwood, Anton Du Beke and Shirley Ballas all chose to save the latter.

It comes after BBC viewers voted to save their favourite star, with that result being combined with the panel’s scores from the last two weeks.

Les, 69, and and his dance partner Nancy Xu performed again, going up against the radio presenter, 28, and pro Gorka Marquez.

However, sadly the duo’s Samba to Rock The Boat by Hues Corporation failed to impress.

Craig, 58, told Les and Nancy: “The couple I would like to save and who I think danced the best on the night and was the most improved is Nikita and Gorka.”

Motsi, 42, agreed: “Both couples danced better in the dance-off.

“One couple was extremely better in the dance-off. I will save Nikita and Gorka.”

Anton, 57, then stated: “I thought it was a competition of two couples on performance alone and who could really nail their performance.

“I think the couple who did the best job were Nikita and Gorka.”

Head judge Shirley, 63, said she would have also saved the latter couple.

Reflecting on his time on the show, Les told viewers: “I’ve had the best time, this lady [Nancy] has been amazing, a great teacher, she’s really put me through my paces.”

Addressing her directly, he continued: “I did as well as I could for you, I hope!”

Les added: “That lot up there, I’m going to miss you so much.

“I really appreciate and understand the judges’ point of view, thank you so much [to Shirley] for giving me a 10 for entertainment.

“I hope I’ve entertained, that’s what I came here for. Strictly is the best and the people who put this on, you’re just all amazing!”

Strictly Come Dancing returns Saturday at 6.20pm on BBC One.
