Strictly Come Dancing fans call for change to show following Ellie Leach win

Ellie and Vito win Strictly Come Dancing 2023

Several Strictly Come Dancing fans have called for spin-off series It Takes Two to air one final episode after the series wraps up. Last Saturday saw Coronation Street star Ellie Leach and partner Vito Coppola lifting the Glitterball Trophy and the celebratory scene concluded the 2023 series.

While the BBC competition takes place, It Takes Two airs every weekday. Hosted by Janette Manrara and Fleur East, the show sees behind-the-scenes moments and interviews with the couples.

The last episode aired on Friday just before the Strictly final, and many have questioned why it doesn’t continue for a final instalment after the winners have been announced.

One fan wrote: “I always think it’s weird how they don’t do one last episode on the Monday after the final to chat to the finalists and the judges and the production crew about how it all went. It feels as if we’re missing something.”

Another Reddit user agreed, adding: “I don’t see why they don’t do it on the Sunday after the final, in place of the results show! “I’d love a proper wrap up after everything is finished.”

“Yes, I think there should be a post-final interview with the finalists to talk about their experiences and to give them a proper goodbye,” a third commented.

On X, formerly known as Twitter, @_asdfghjemima penned: “Petition for strictly to do an after the final it takes two so we can see the pure vibes and celebration, you’re telling me that’s it? it’s over? GIVE ME MORE.”

@SatonmyButt added: “It frustrates me that there is no #ItTakesTwo after the @bbcstrictly final! An episode where they talk about the final and talk to the winners. That is the show we need! #Strictly #StrictlyFinal @JManrara.”

Former Coronation Street actor Ellie, 22, became the competition’s youngest winner last weekend.

She was in the final alongside actor Layton Williams and his partner Nikita Kuzmin and EastEnders star Bobby Brazier and Dianne Buswell.

Speaking after her win, she beamed: “Words cannot describe how I am feeling right now and I cannot believe we have just won Strictly Come Dancing 2023.

“It’s been a life-changing opportunity and I’ve had the time of my life dancing with Vito every week.

“It has been so special and to be able to do it with such a great teacher has made it an experience I will never forget.

“Thank you so much for that, Vito, and thank you for finding the dancer in me.

“We couldn’t have won without the voting public, so a huge thank you to everyone at home who picked up the phone for us, we appreciate every single one of you!”

Strictly Come Dancing is available to watch on BBC iPayer.
