Susanna Reid left red-faced after being caught eating breakfast in GMB blunder

GMB: Ed Balls tells Susanna Reid to ‘sort yourself out’

Susanna Reid was left red-faced as the 52-year-old was caught out eating her breakfast live on air.

During Wednesday’s instalment of Good Morning Britain, the show returned following an ad break to reveal the host enjoying some food.

As the cameras cut back into the ITV studio unexpectedly, Susanna soon went into a panic realising she was in the shot.

Addressing the blunder, she said: “Just putting my breakfast away, excuse me.”

Picking up the plate of food to dispose of to get on with the show, her co-host Richard Madeley couldn’t help but laugh at the situation.

Taking a cheeky swipe at her being caught off-guard, he swiped: “She’s having her breakfast! Bear with her, bear with her.”

Putting her dish underneath the desk, Susanna told viewers: “I’ll have that a little later.”

It looked as though Richard’s light-hearted jibe came after Susanna’s comments during Monday’s show over the 67-year-old being a sex symbol.

Speaking about whether or not you can still be a sex symbol in your 60s, Susanna commented: “Well there’s one obvious person to ask if you can still be a sex symbol in your sixties…Richard Madeley.”

However, the comment seemed to backfire as Richard told his co-host to “get out of here” while the crew off-camera could be heard wolf-whistling.

As Richard confessed he didn’t want to ask Susanna’s age as he wanted to be seen as a gentleman, the ITV star took the chance to have another pop at him.

She hit back: “That’s quite an old-fashioned notion. You’re showing your age.”

However, the debate took a turn later on in the show when one guest made a crude comment about actress Joan Collins.

As Debbie Arnold made the rude remark, Susanna quickly cut the conversation when she hit back: “Oi, she’s very happily married to a man who finds her very attractive. What are you talking about?!”

Although Debbie apologised to Joan, who was appearing on the show the following day, Sunna joked it was “too late”.

Good Morning Britain continues weekdays on ITV from 6am.
