The Crown season six part two has made its debut with a new face portraying Prince Harry.

Netflix subscribers have been eagerly waiting the past month for the final lot of episodes of the royal drama to be dropped and the day has finally arrived.

The fifth episode in the last ever series, entitled Willsmania, may mainly focus on Prince William (played by Ed McVey), there are numerous scenes with a teenage Prince Harry (Luther Ford).

William is seen adjusting to life back at Eton College after Princess Diana’s (Elizabeth Debicki) death when his dad, now King Charles (Dominic West) suggests that he and the two princes go on a ski trip to Canada.

There is one moment when the brothers cheers to “mummy” and another scene later when Harry tells William he was “pretty harsh” when he commented about their father’s “image” in the press.

Why was Prince Harry actor replaced in The Crown?

In the first half of The Crown season six, Prince Harry is portrayed by young star Fflyn Edwards.

He is the actor featured during the last phone call the prince had with Princess Diana, as well as the heartbreaking moments he was told of her death, as well as the funeral.

It is in episode five, part two of The Crown, that actor Luther Ford takes over the role from Edwards.

While the replacement hasn’t been officially explained, it’s most likely to do with Prince Harry needing to look older during this stage in his life thanks to more adult themes.

In the early noughties, Harry had a gap year in Australia and enrolled at the Royal Military Academy in Sandhurst, starting off his career in the military.

Prior to him joining, there are talks of Harry and Charles being at loggerheads over the former taking marijuana.

Harry also encourages his brother to take drugs and have sex when he starts at St Andrew’s University so a more mature actor would have been needed for the role.

Despite the change in actors, in the scene where the Duke of Sussex is first seen in part two, he is thought to be just 13 years old.
