The star was a hugely successful actor and comedian, before sadly dying aged just 66.

Who was Dudley Moore?

Born on April 19, 1935, in Charing Cross, London, Dudley Moore was an actor, comedian, and musician.

During his incredible career, he was well known for his titular role in Arthur (1981), for which he won a Golden Globe Award.

He then received a second Golden Globe for his performance in Micki & Maude (1984).

Christmas film fans will also known him as Patch in Santa Clause: The Movie (1981).

In 1987, Dudley was awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

He was also made a CBE by the late Queen Elizabeth II at Buckingham Palace in November 2001.

His first marriage was to actresses Suzy Kendall from 1968 to 1972.

Dudley tied to the knot with his third wife Brogan Lane in 1988, and they were married for three years.

The actor's last marriage was to Nicole Rothschild from 1994 until 1998.

Did Dudley Moore have any children?

Dudley had two children, both boys, from two of his marriages.

Together with his second wife Tuesday, he welcomed his son Patrick on February 26, 1976.

His son Nicholas was then born on June 28, 1995, with his mum being Dudley's fourth wife Nicole.

What was Dudley Moore's cause of death?

On September 30, 1999, Dudley announced that he was suffering from the terminal degenerative brain disorder progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP), a Parkinson-plus syndrome.

The disease eventually required him to use a wheelchair.

Before his death, Dudley shed light on PSP in one of his final interviews, in June 2000.
