Emmerdale fans left fuming after soap misses major characters death

Emmerdale fans were left disappointed after the soap forgot to mention Harriet Finch’s (played by Katherine Dow Blyton) death, one year after she sadly died in the storm.

On Monday night’s episode of the hit ITV soap, Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller) was found sleeping rough in the scrapyard cabin and was woken up by his brother-in-law Vinny Dingle (Bradley Johnson).

Vinny encouraged Aaron to spend time with his family as it was the first anniversary of his sister Liv Flaherty’s (Isobel Steele) death after she also perished in the storm.

The residents of Emmerdale paid tribute to those who lost their lives last year but failed to mention Harriet.

Eagle-eyed viewers weren’t happy and criticised the soap on X, formerly known as Twitter, for not acknowledging Harriet’s death.

One fan wrote: “They mentioned the anniversary of Liv’s death, but didn’t Harriet die in the same storm?”

“How come she was forgotten about?” they asked.

A second viewer said: “Yeah, it’s not like Harriet was around for the best part of 10 years or anything #Emmerdale.”

A third added: “#emmerdale well the writers didn’t even grace this long-term character with a funeral – so doubt they’ll bother allowing characters to mention Harriet.”

While a fourth expressed: “No mention of Harriet? Did she die a year ago today as well? #Emmerdale.”

Katherine’s first appearance as Harriet on the soap was in 2013 before she bowed out in 2022.

She played a former police officer who originally arrived in the village to be the new vicar for the residents.

The long-serving character was involved in plenty of big storylines while on the soap, including her surprising relationship with Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley).

Harriet lost her life after being plunged down a ravine, after searching for Amelia Spencer (Daisy Campbell) on her quad bike.

The high-octane scenes were a part of the huge storm week where viewers saw a violet storm ravage through the village.

Emmerdale airs weekdays at 7.30pm on ITV.
