Inside Corrie Dev stars love life – heartbreaking split and affair rumours

Coronation Street star Jimmi Harkishin has been a regular face on our screens since 1999, when he first appeared as Dev Alahan.

The infamous shopkeeper has been involved in a number of integral, hard-hitting storylines over the years and has also been at the heart of lighter more comedic scenes.

But as well as bringing drama and comedy to the famous cobbles, the 58-year-old has been embroiled in several steamy affairs and love triangles in the soap.

Away from the show however, Jimmi's private life was once front page news following his split from his wife Susan Beaton.

Daily Star has taken a deeper look at Jimmi's love life and if he's seeing anyone now.

Romance and public split

Jimmi, whose real name is Rajan Harkishindas, was previously in a relationship with Susan Beaton, whom he first started dating in 1991.

The pair later welcomed three children together – Holli Harkishin, Rajan Harkishin and India Rose Harkishin.

Susan, who was a teacher, lived in London with their children while Jimmi made the 190-mile journey to see her at weekends once filming on the Corrie set had wrapped up.

But it was later revealed that the couple had hit a wall in their relationship leading them to call their relationship quits after 16 years together.

Not long after, affair rumours began to hit the press.

Alleged affair

In 2007, Jimmi's life became the centre of media attention when rumours of an affair began to swirl.

According to reports at the time, a woman named Ruth Gray, accepted his marriage proposal and later moved into his home near Manchester.

But the actor at the time was reportedly still living with Susan, who resided at their home in London.

In April 2007, a source told The Mirror: "Jimmi accepts he has been no saint in the past but has decided to settle down once and for all.

"The situation with Susan is certainly what you would call a bizarre set-up.

"In the past she has accepted what he gets to while he is in the north. But proposing to another woman and living with her as a proper couple is something else."

However a spokesperson for ITV refuted the claims at the time, insisting Ruth and Jimmi were not living together and the ring on Ruth's finger is "not an engagement ring".

Despite the controversy at the time, in more recent reports, Jimmi is currently single and is ready to meet someone new.
